ANTHROPOLOGY 1820 (30186)
Linguistic Anthropology
3 credit hours
This course is an anthropological look at language, the uniquely human form of communication. Linguistics — the study of language —
originated as a sub-field of anthropology but has emerged as a full-blown discipline in its own right. This course addresses the interconnectedness
of culture and language, the biological basis for language, and the differences and similarities of languages from around the world. Students will
be provided the techniques to work with unfamiliar languages, including Apache, Turkish, Chinese, Telegu, Swahili, and many more. Contact Prof.
Bolyanatz at (630) 942-2433 or bolyanat@cod.edu for more information.
