I discovered, just now, that Toupan is a surname. The only records I find of any person with the surname Toupan predate 1920…but if there are any members of any of the Toupan families still living today, and they happen to be reading this blog, I apologise to you for the possibly awkward similarity of my made-up word “toupan” to your surname “Toupan.” I promise no insult is meant, and that I was completely unaware that Toupan was, indeed a surname until after the writing of said blog post.
